Frequently asked

How do I get help or report a bug?
Email support@worried.studio. Tell us your device, iOS version, and what happened — the more detail, the faster we can help.
What does the free version include?
Quite a lot: three sound engines (FM, CLUSTER and PULSE), the PATTERN and ARP sequencers, the full 4-track tape, the mixer and Perform mode, three effects plus bypass (SPRING reverb, BAT filter, PUNCH compressor), and two saved projects. It's a complete little studio on its own.
What does Spool Pro unlock?
A single one-time Spool Pro purchase unlocks all fourteen engines, sampling (mic recording and importing audio from Files), the full 11-effect rack, every sequencer, unlimited projects, WAV mixdown export, and MIDI input — plus every engine and effect we add in the future. There is no subscription.
I bought Spool Pro but it looks locked — how do I restore it?
Tap the ⓘ About button in the top bar (or open the unlock screen) and tap Restore Purchases. As long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID that made the purchase, it will unlock immediately.
How do I connect a MIDI keyboard?
Connect a class-compliant USB MIDI controller (via a USB-C or Lightning adapter) — spool. picks it up automatically, hot-plug included. For Bluetooth, open the MIDI settings (piano icon) and tap Bluetooth MIDI… to pair. (MIDI input is a Spool Pro feature.)
Spool is asking for microphone access — why?
Only so you can sample sound into the sampler, drum kits, or the TALK vocoder. Audio captured from the mic is processed entirely on your device and is never sent anywhere. See our privacy policy.
Can I import songs or samples from the Files app?
Yes. With the SAMPLER or DRUM engine selected, tap FILE to import any audio file — even a whole song. A crop screen opens where you pinch to zoom, drag the handles around the part you want, audition it, and confirm. Stereo files stay stereo. (Sampling is a Spool Pro feature.)
How long can a mic sample be?
Microphone recordings run up to about 12 seconds at 48 kHz. After recording you can crop the sample in the waveform editor before playing it across the keys or slicing it into a kit.
How do I export a finished track?
In the Mixer, open the OUT page: tap MIXDOWN and play your song down — spool. records everything you hear at the master output. Stop, then tap EXPORT WAV to save it to the Files app. Mixdown export is a Spool Pro feature.
Can I make spool. feel snappier (lower latency)?
Yes — tap the ⓘ About button and pick a buffer size under Audio: 128 (tightest), 256 (default) or 512 (safest on older devices). Note that Bluetooth speakers and headphones always add their own delay, whatever you pick — wired output feels tightest.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone and iPad running iOS/iPadOS 17 or later, in both portrait and landscape.
